Tokushima University Explores Tie-up with Silliman
Officials of the University of Tokushima met with Silliman President Dr. Ben S. Malayang and other members of the Administration on June 11 to explore partnership opportunities, particularly on the University’s program at the Medical School.
Present were Dr. Akira Tangoku, Assistant Dean of International Relations and Professor of the Department of Thoracic, Endocrine Surgery and Oncology; Dr. Kazuya Kondo, Director of the School of Health Science and Professor of the Department of Oncological Medical Services; Dr. Tetsuya Tanioka, Professor of the Department of Nursing Management; and Ms. Fumie Murasawa, International Coordinator of the International Affairs Division.
Student and faculty exchange and collaborative research were among those discussed as areas of interest that could be pursued under a formal agreement.
The University of Tokushima is a national university in Tokushima city, Japan founded in 1949. It has around 6,000 undergraduate and 1,700 graduate students coming from Japan and other countries, including South Korea, China and the United States.
Linking the University of Tokushima to Silliman is Dr. Rozzano C. Locsin, Professor of International Nursing at the Department of Nursing in Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Locsin is an Outstanding Sillimanian for Nursing Education.
