Fun Twist to Campus Orientation Organized for New Students
The Silliman University Student Government (SUSG) spearheaded a fun and creative way of introducing new students to the campus in a program it termed as SUGOD (Silliman University Grand Orientation Day).
Organized by the Student Rights and Welfare Committee on June 14, SUGOD adopted an “Amazing Race” concept in giving the new students a glimpse into campus life through the different buildings on the 62-hectare stretch. SUGOD also paved the way for new students to build friendships among themselves.
There were a total of 20 stations that each group of first year students needed to cover. Each station had a specific task that tested their teamwork, resilience and resourcefulness of students. They needed to accomplish each task in order to advance in the race.
At the end of the race, the participants enjoyed ice cream together at the Amphitheater.
On June 23, the University gathers new students and transferres to the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium for the official Freshman Orientation program.
