Divinity School Undergoes Accreditation by ATESEA

Three accreditors from the Association for Theological Education in Southeast Asia (ATESEA) were on campus on June 29 through July 2 to evaluate the Divinity School.

The accreditation team was composed of Dr. Daniel Nuhamara of Satya Wacana Christian University in Indonesia, Dr. Maggie Low of the Trinity Theological College in Singapore and Dr. Reuel Almocera of the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in the Philippines.

They looked into the facilities and faculty complement at the Divinity School, assessed the strength and relevance of the program of the School as one of the Centers of Theological Excellence in Asia, and interfaced with Silliman officials on its continuing commitment to quality Christian education in the face of education reforms.

On their first night on campus, Drs. Satya, Low and Almocera were welcomed by officers of the University and two Members of the Silliman University Board of Trustees: Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor and Mrs. Edna J. Orteza.

ATESEA is an organization of seminaries and tertiary institutions of theology that also acts as an accreditation agency for theological education in the Southeast Asian region. It currently has a network of 88 member institutions in 12 countries.
