High School Archers Win 6 Medals in Two National Events
Three students from the High School Department clinched a total of two gold, two silver and two bronze medals in archery in two separate national competitions.
Incoming Grade 8 student Nicole Marie Tagle bagged a total of four medals: a gold each in the 30-meter and 60-meter categories, a silver in the Olympic round, and a bronze in the qualifying round, during the Palarong Pambansa held early this month in Tagum City. Her performance caught the eye of a local reporter who published an article featuring Nicole that headlined: “Hawkeye is a girl”.
Two other archers from her batch also competed in the First Chairman’s Cup held on a earlier date in Quezon City. Princess Francheska Joy Juico won silver, while Maria Ferimi Gleam Bajado received bronze.
Archery is one of many celebrated sports in Silliman. The University has already produced three Olympians in archery. (Cover photo lifted from SunStar Cebu | Photographer: Alex Badayos)
