Singing Group to Perform at Gathering in Alaska

The Silliman University Gratitude and Goodwill Ambassadors (SUGGA), a group of students, faculty and staff, is set to perform at the Tipon 2011 celebration in Fairbanks, Alaska, United States on June 17 to 21. SUGGA sings and dances with repertoire ranging from Baroque to Contemporary periods of musical styles with sacred and secular genre, including Philippine forms like the kundiman and folksongs taken from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The group's performance at the the tenth anniversary of Tipon is Silliman University's show of appreciation to the Silliman University Alumni Council of North America (SUACONA) for its continuing support to Silliman. One of SUACONA's supported projects is the Portal West Building, a four-storey commercial building constructed through the initiative of the Silliman University Board of Trustees. SUGGA is directed by Dr. Elizabeth Susan Vista-Suarez, Dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
