Alumni Updates (November 30-December 6)
Officers and some members of the Silliman University Alumni Association-United Kingdom Chapter gathered November 30, 2015 to have high tea at the popular Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon in Fortnum and Mason, London. It was no ordinary venue for them as the head pastry chef Scott Stewart A. Villacora is a Sillimanian. Scott prepared a spread of delectable goodies for fellow alumni Christine Duran, Win Heapy, John A Heapy, Aura Ampong, Jocelyn Ferrer, May Lynette Diao Alabastro, Aaron Bravo Gallo, Zaleia Gerlie, April V. Del Rosario, Charlton Marc Alabastro and Mary Lee.
The English afternoon tea tradition is feature at Fortnum and Mason. The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon was refurbished and re-opened by Her Majesty The Queen of England in 2012 and has since become a stylish destination for the most traditional of afternoon teas.
Scott is a champion in delivering British tradition with a twist. He finished high school in Silliman in 1996 and obtained his degree in Management from the University in 2001. He later received his Diploma in Culinary Arts at the Philippine School of Culinary Arts and his Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking NVQ 2 at the City and Guilds of London Institute.
The holiday season is just around the corner and Sillimanians around the world are gearing up to celebrate it together.
Nobody can’t stop the guys and gals of the Silliman University Alumni Association National Capital Region (SUAANCR) from partying this coming Saturday, December 5, 2015, 12NN to 5PM at 4141 N Henderson Road, Arlington VA 22203 (Hyde Park Party Room). Chapter president Danny T. Luzada is inviting all Sillimanians around the area to the party which menu, Danny says, “is getting longer and ‘healthier’ each day”. E-mail Danny at [email protected].
The Silliman University General Alumni Register, an alumni chapter based in Houston, Texas will be holding their Christmas get-together on December 11, 2015, 6PM, at the Kim Son Restaurant, 12750 Southwest Fwy, Stafford, Texas 77477. In Europe: The Silliman University Alumni Association Ireland/Northern Ireland will have their Christmas party and year-end general assembly on December 13, 2015 at the residence of Sheila Dan located at 13 Parklands Way Maynooth. To be inducted chapter officers for 2016 are: Jahaziel Macias Abarado (president), Maria Sherree Suarez-Caldamo (vice president), Suzi Ybañez Mutnane (secretary), Shriegley Mae Delegero-Dy (treasurer), Jesslyn Fietje and Genevieve Marum (public relation officers) and Eunice Gonzales Stewart (social and event committee chairperson); and as members of the board of directors: Ryan Kho, Bernadette Lagura, Ardianeta Abarado and Erah Retana Roche.
