Choristers Bags First Prize in Christmas Choral Competition

Their pieces of English and Tagalog Christmas classics easily evoked childhood memories of what many consider as the happiest time of the year. And the lights of the giant lantern behind them danced along, seemingly giving away the results of the 1st Dumaguete Christmas Choral Competition held December 5 at the Quezon Park.

The Silliman University Campus Choristers emerged the winner, bagging along with the trophy and cash prize the right to represent Dumaguete City in the provincial round: the Negros Oriental Choral Competition hosted December 10 by the local government unit of Bayawan City.

Asst. Prof. Mark Ian A. Caballes, a faculty of the College of Performing and Visual Arts, is the current conductor of the Choristers.

Second place went to Foundation University and third to the San Antonio de Padua Parish Choir.
