Extension Program Initiates Jail Rehabilitation Ministry
With different departments extending assistance to inmates, the Extension Program launched March 14 the Jail Rehabilitation Ministry, pulling together expertise and resources under one integrated and holistic program.
The Ministry resonates with the goal of whole person education of Silliman University. It endeavors to help ensure a worthwhile and meaningful experience to inmates at the Dumaguete City District Jail in Banilad, developing a positive outlook in life within them and the necessary reinforcement to become contributing members of the community.
It touches base with the different academic and support units in the University, making its approach integrative and truly multidisciplinary.
Built into the Ministry are components covering Spiritual Life, Legal Assistance, Livelihood and Entrepreneurship Promotions, Education and Literacy, Health, Cultural Life Enhancement, Aesthetics, Psycho-social Support, and Environmental Awareness.
