3 Student Leaders Picked to Represent Region in National Youth Parliament
Three senior students from Silliman University attended the 11th National Youth Parliament last June 1 to 4 in Iloilo City.
Economics major Genin Raya Amiscaray, Management major Shaina Dawn Navarro and Psychology major Erika Jean Quiñones were chosen from among hundreds of applicants to represent the Negros Island Region.
Genin, Shaina and Erika hold leadership posts in their respective student organizations. They are all honor students and are actively involved in community and advocacy work.
Organized by the National Youth Commission, the parliament gathered 200 young leaders and youth sectoral representatives from all over the Philippines to present, discuss, formulate meaningful measures, and propose resolutions to address youth concerns in a platform similar to the legislative branch of the country.
The National Youth Parliament is a biennial gathering that started in 1996, as mandated by Republic Act 8044 (Youth in Nation-Building Act).
