Ninth Grader is Quarterfinalist in International Archery in Russia 

A ninth grader from Junior High School advanced to the quarterfinals of the 6th Child of Asia International Sports Competition held early this month in Yakutsk, Russia. 

Nicole Marie D. Tagle was one of only two who represented the Philippines in the international archery tournament which had around 25 young archers from 20 countries around the world. 

She earned a spot in the quarterfinals after defeating the third-ranked archer in the tournament who hailed from Bangladesh. 

In the quarterfinals of the individual Olympic round, Nicole gave a good fight, hitting four points. She was head-to-head with her opponent from Moscow at four points, until her opponent managed to make a two-point lead. 

Nicole is among promising young Filipino archers who has been bagging medals in regional and national archery tournaments. In one of her recent feats, she was described as a “Hawkeye”, tagged as among young Filipino athletes to watch out for. 

Archery is one of the celebrated sports in Silliman. The University has already produced three Olympians: Jennifer Chan, Lisa Ygnalaga and Mark Javier.
