Sillimanians Attend Int’l Scout Jamboree

Three student scouts and one faculty member from the Junior High School Department attended the 5th ASEAN Jamboree held on September 15-20 in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, Malaysia.

Ray Gabriel L. Chiu, Cezar Felippe G. Lopez, and Ejian A. Uy were among the 28 scouts in the said Jamboree, along with others from Iloilo, Manila, Quezon Province and Samar. Scouter and Social Studies faculty member Mr. Val I. Siasa accompanied the three students.

Scout Chiu was also chosen as representative to the 5th ASEAN Scout Youth Forum.

They underwent five days of outdoor activities, aimed to promote the awareness of cultural diversity among member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). More than 10,000 scouts from all over Southeast Asia attended the Jamboree.

The 5th ASEAN Jamboree was organized by the Persekutan Pengakap Malaysia (The Scouts Association of Malaysia).
