Six CCS Faculty Named Microsoft Ambassadors

Six faculty members of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) are among this year’s Microsoft Education Ambassadors.

Dean Dr. Dave E. Marcial, Asst. Prof. Janice Antoniette V. Forster, Ms. Joy M. Dy, Ms. Alma Banabana, Mr. Alfie Arcelo, and Mr. Kim Faburada are among the first batch of ambassadors from the Negros Island Region. They will be joining a group of individuals from all over the country who were selected based on their competency, potential, and passion for technology in education.

As Microsoft Education Ambassadors, the six will help Microsoft Philippines in promoting the use proper use of technology specifically for educators, as well as empowering teachers on the latest information and communications technology (ICT) tools in teaching.

They are scheduled to attend a three-day training on October 27 to 29; the training is a pre-requisite to the program.

Now on its second year, the Microsoft Education Ambassadors program was launched by Microsoft Philippines with the aim to create a sustainable community of passionate educators who are advocates of teaching with technology.

The College of Computer Studies has active ties with major digital companies to provide quality computer education for its students. Last year, the Apps Incubation and Development Laboratory was established at the Uytengsu Computer Center in partnership with Apple Inc., geared towards empowering the youth to tinker with creativity by turning their ideas into mobile iOS applications.
