Silliman Wins 2016 Palarong Panlungsod Championship
Athletes from the School of Basic Education brought honor to the University as they were declared over-all champions of the 2016 Palarong Panlungsod earlier this month.
Silliman garnered the most number of medals in the over-all medal tally. For the elementary division, Silliman raked 45 gold, 32 silver, and 20 bronze medals. In the secondary division, the University got 59 gold, 43 silver, and 26 bronze medals.
As champion, Silliman won trophies, along with its runners-up: Dumaguete City West District Elementary School and St. Louis School Don Bosco (elementary division), as well as Dumaguete City High School and the Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria (high school division).
The athletes from Silliman were also given a special award: Best in Saludo Award. They will soon represent the Dumaguete City Division to the Negros Island Region Athletic Association (NIRAA) Meet slated early next year.
Organized by the Department of Education (DEPED) and the City Government of Dumaguete, the Palarong Panlungsod aims to instill among students the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie through healthy sports competitions.
