Ms Belinda Aseoche Fontelo
A Woman Gifted with Single Blessedness Enjoys Her Ministry
People might have been wondering why she is still single.
She was no different from other teenagers when she was growing up. She had her fair share of crushes, puppy love and blossoming relationship. It was only when she was already 36 that she decided on remaining single — something that she considers a response to a “calling” revealed to her in a dream. And since then, she has not faltered.
She strongly believes that God puts her where she can grow more and enjoy best her gift of single blessedness by serving Him and His people.
“Every day and every time of the day is a gift from God. I will spend it in a way He would like me to, in whatever way I can serve His purpose and will in my life. And that includes embracing failures and weaknesses — challenges that will mold me to become the best version of myself, following the guidance of the most faithful, Jesus Christ,” she said.
She spends most of her free time in Bible studies and prayer meetings. On Wednesdays, she conducts Bible studies with two adult groups and facilitates one with kids on Saturdays. She is a member of the Board of Intercessors of the Provider Ministries Fellowship International, Inc.
Ms Belinda Aseoche Fontelo, popularly known as “Ate Belinda” or “Ate B”, is the Secretary of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). Let's get to know Ate Belinda more beyond the four corners of her table.
Describe yourself in three words.
Joyful. Serious. Prayerful.
What is your mantra in life?
Ephesians 2:8-9 ?For by grace you have been saved through faith not of works lest no man should boast.? We are saved by grace. I pray that every person will have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as earth is only a temporary dwelling; eternity awaits us if we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
What makes you laugh/cry?
I easily laugh, especially when I?m with people who have a great sense of humor. I cry at situations like loss of loved ones, or when dear ones are away for a long time. I also easily cry when I see people suffering, like the victims of calamities.
What's your favorite time/day of the week and why?
Every day and every time of the day is a gift from God. I will spend it in a way He would like me to, in whatever way I can serve His purpose and will in my life. And that includes embracing failures and weaknesses — challenges that will mold me to become the best version of myself, following the guidance of the most faithful, Jesus Christ.
What do you love doing when not working?
Reading Christian magazines and books. Bonding with family and relatives at home.
What is your favorite hangout place in the University?
Amphitheatre — it?s a perfect place for sharing messages of salvation and life with Christ.
What makes you blush?
If I'm accused falsely.
If you were an actor/actress, who would you be?
None. Sorry, I?m a unique person.
Tell us a fact about yourself?
Since I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in January of 1983, I have been reading and meditating on the Bible. I'm contented as I am and I really enjoy life all because of God's love — which He manifests in the family He blessed me with my three sisters, my brothers-in-law, my beautiful niece and her husband and their son, my adorable grandchild, Elijah Daniel. We have a very strong relationship as a family. Love supersedes all — beyond one's fault and weaknesses.
I am a member of the Board of Intercessors of the Provider Ministries Fellowship International, Inc. We are trained and equipped with the Morris Cerullo World Evangelism Ministry through teaching materials (videos and magazines). At present, I have three cell groups or Bible study groups: two adult groups and one with children.
What's your favorite game growing up?
Jack Stone.
What is your idea of a relaxing day?
It is a day when I work — because I love my work! And Sundays, when I get to have a chance to be with family, friends and relatives to share stories and experiences at work.
What one thing would people be interested to know about you?
Why I remain single?
What song best describes the YOU and the life you have now?
“Faith” by Hillsong.” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Nothing is impossible with the Lord.
What is the first thing you do right after waking up in the morning?
Thanking and praising God. As is contained Psalm 100:4: “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him and bless His name.? It's great to start your day with a prayer and get strength from His promise in Jeremiah 33:3: “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known”.
What's your idea of a family?
A family is a group of people who love and care for each other in every and any way, amidst faults and failures.
