Ms. Lanie B. Acibron
A Mother Fulfilling and Enduring Selfless Love
Romantic love was not so kind to her, ending her marriage with her first love. “We woke up one day and just stopped loving each other,” she says. But love continues to give her glow as she channels all of her care and energy to her two sons who are now teenagers.
The wounds have healed, leaving perhaps an invisible scar that signifies a definite end to a healing process. Love still hurts. “Love makes one happy and sad. When you give out love, whether to a special someone or your family, it will always include tears. It’s a package deal,” she quips.
Even if her sons are now grownups and are leading their own lives, she still busies herself in taking care of the whole family and her grandchildren. When trials or challenges erupt, family members mostly run to her for rescue. Aside from providing for the whole household, she also allots time looking for extra income, because, just like most mothers, she wants a better future for her entire family. She believes that a “family is where you find real love and commitment. It is where you endure and fulfill selfless love.”
Ms. Lanie B. Acibron is the Secretary of the Office of Information and Publications (OIP). In her 19 years of service with the University, Lani has also rendered her services at three other offices: Office of Instruction, Multi-Media Center (now Instructional Media and Technology Center) and Office of Student Affairs. A true-blue Sillimanian, she completed her Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Math in 1992, and degrees of Bachelor of Laws in 2004 and Master of Public Administration in 2006.
A self-proclaimed extremist, Lanie can be very honest about how she feels about certain things. When you meet her she can either be at her best or worst self. Either way, she could still be lovable!
Let's get to know Lanie more beyond the four corners of her table.
