Mr. Rodrigo G. Puracan
It is true that no one can predict what lies ahead of us. And to Mr. Rodrigo G. Puracan, life is about faith. While he may have encountered a lot of delays and redirections in his journey, he still stands strong and optimistic. His faith continues to allow him to withstand every challenge he's faced with.
It was in 1975 when he decided to leave his comfort zone in Trinidad, Bohol to study Agriculture in Silliman University. Knowing well what studying far from home meant in terms of pressure and expenses, he divided his time between studying and working as a student assistant at the Silliman University Church office.
He graduated in 1981, and landed a job at the Bureau of Plant Industry in Mindanao as a Seed Production Assistant. But he would later find himself back to the Silliman campus in 1989, working as a cashier at then Silliman Press (now Printing and Publishing Unit under the Office of Information and Publications). In 2000, he transferred to the Philosophy and Religion Department to take on a new role as secretary, the position he holds until today.
He lives a happy married life. His wife, Luzminda, also works in the University as the secretary at the Physics Department. They are blessed with two daughters, Ellen and Realin, who are now both nurses. He adds to his sources of inspiration his first grandson, Gzemial Cxian, son of Ellen.
A man deeply rooted in his faith, Rod shows everyone that a devoted Christian will always get the best things in life.
