Change
God Is At Work
By Rev. Jeremias M. Lagahit, Minister for Students and Campus Chaplaincy
Text: John 5:17; Romans 8: 26-27
Both New Testament passages tell us that God is forever alive and young. God is always new. God continues to create the world. God is at work.
In the gospel of John and in the other Gospels, they speak of the Lord Jesus saying, “My Father is never at rest…” My father continues to create the world. My Father continues to give opportunities to the people He loves.”
Creation did not end with Genesis. Creation continues up to now because the Lord opens new chances for all the people who will call upon His name.
How does God continue to create the world? How does God continue to give us opportunities? How does God continue to make us fresh, to make us new?
God does all these through the changes in our lives.
Unfortunately, we are afraid of changes. The older we become, the more secure we are with what we have been doing in the past.
Life is a series of changes. And changes are actually God’s opportunities to make us new. Changes are God’s opportunities to make us strong and brave. A change is not a chapter being ended. A change is a new door being opened to us.
So, let us be open to the new things that God wants us to do, with and through us in our fast changing world.
A change is an opportunity for us to launch into the deep, to open new possibilities and chances, to open new doors, to begin all over again.
God is at work for change to happen – in my life, in your life, in our life as a community of faith and service of this beautiful and unique world.
In working for change – “the Spirit (who is God) intercedes for us according to the will of God… We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him.
God indeed is at work in our lives and in this community.
