Electric Golf Carts Offer Free Campus Transportation

Electric Golf Carts Offer Free Campus Transportation

Three electric golf carts are in full operation this school year 2013-2014, offering free transportation to students, faculty, staff and alumni around the University’s 62-hectare campus.

The electric golf carts were donated by alumni chapters in the United States. Two units came from the Silliman University Alumni Association of Southern California and another one from the Silliman University Alumni Association International-Chicago.

These units, which arrived in December last year and were slightly improved, complement two earlier innovations of the University.

Last year, Silliman launched the Silliman-Smart Communications four-wheel tartanilya. In 2010, it introduced what has become a favorite among tourists: the Campus Cruiser, a 14-seater limousine-like vehicle with no windows on the sides for better air circulation. The Cruiser was donated by the Silliman University Alumni Association in Southern California.

Silliman continues to promote eco-friendly initiatives on campus. With its growing student population, it encourages car pooling and the use of bicycles. In support of this, the Student Government initiated its rent-a-bike program for students that is already on its third year this June.
