SPAG Pioneering Grad is Region's Best

A fresh graduate from the School of Public Affairs and Governance was adjudged one of Central Visayas' most outstanding student leaders last May 18 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Cherry Mae B. Gumapac, the first to obtain the degree of Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs program, and who graduated magna cum laude, will represent Silliman University in the national search of the Ten Outstanding Students in the Philippines (TOSP).

Only 30 from around the country are selected to advance into the national search which includes another round of interviews. Of this number, ten will emerge as this year’s recipients of the TOSP in a special ceremony at the Malacañan Palace.

Gumapac hails from Kidapawan City, North Cotabato. She was a consistent honor student who took on key roles in co-curricular organizations. In February last year, she  was awarded Most Outstanding Student of the Year.

Another student from Silliman who made it up to the regional selection is Kricia K. Magallanes from the College of Education.

The TOSP search is held annually to recognize students who demonstrate strength in both academics and leadership.
