14 Students from US on Campus for Service-Learning

 The Institute of Service-Learning (ISL) hosts again another batch of students from George Mason University (GMU) in Virginia for a week of service-learning.

This year's batch is composed of 14 students and is headed by professor Dr. Al B. Fuertes, a Silliman alumnus who heads GMU's Global Education Programs. They will undertake service-learning in the different partner agencies of the ISL from June 23 to 28. 

Service-learning is a teaching pedagogy that facilitates community immersion, cultural understanding and a broadening of one's perspective of local issues. Participants are able to stay with host families, participate in a community's day-to-day activities, and assist in livelihood projects.

Silliman's service-learning program continues to draw in students from the US and Asian countries like Japan, India, Korea and Thailand.
