Silliman Publishes ‘Academic Freedom: Quo Vadis?’ Book
Silliman University launches the book Academic Freedom: Quo Vadis? by a retired lead attorney of the California Court of Appeals, on August 20, 3PM at the Robert B. and Metta J. Silliman Library.
The book is written by Atty. Marcelino C. Maxino, currently adjunct professor at the College of Law of Silliman. Atty. Maxino has served as Lead Appellate Court Attorney of the California Court of Appeals, Sixth Appellate District, and consultant to the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. He holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Michigan.
In the foreword, Silliman University President Dr. Ben S. Malayang writes: “In these times of education reforms, this book offers an insight into the accountability of an academic institution not only to its internal constituencies (faculty, staff, students and alumni) but also to the laws of the land.”
“It facilitates an appreciation of measures that academic institutions need to take, in the areas of faculty hiring, student admission, and program and subject offerings,” he added.
Academic Freedom: Quo Vadis? is published by Silliman University under the Printing and Publishing Unit.
The book sells at an introductory price of P450 per copy.
