9 Visayas Schools Gather for Local Knowledge Camp

Twenty one teachers and researchers from nine schools in the Visayas gathered at Silliman University on March 10 and 11 for the field camp on “Local Knowledge in a Connected Global Village.” A series of activities conducted in selected areas in the country, the camp is designed as a research forum for sharing of current and past works on indigenous knowledge, networking of participants, and reorientation on research methodologies. The camp is a program of the Asian University Digital Resource Network (AUDRN), a collaborative project of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA) and Miriam College (MC). Silliman is one of UBCHEA’s partner institutions in the Philippines and shares with Miriam similar advocacies related to gender equality and environmental protection. The schools represented were: Aklan Catholic College, Asian College of Science and Technology, Binalbagan Catholic College, Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alexandria, Foundation University, Saint Paul University of Dumaguete, Silliman University, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and West Negros University.
