Alumni Update August 2 – 8, 2021
Dr. Nella Fe Pineda-Marcon, New York State Nursing Association (NYSNA) Board of Director, is this year’s guest speaker during the 120th Founders Day Church Service at 9:30 AM on August 22, 2021. Being one of the highlights for this years’ celebration, the service will be streamed live on the Silliman University Church Facebook and YouTube channel.
The NYSNA is one of the largest nurses unions in New York State with over 43,000 members. Her NYSNA advocacy work is to raise awareness on the direct impact of climate change on healthcare. She has actively participated in medical missions in Guatemala, Brazil, and the Philippines and is a first responder to Hurricane Sandy in New York, Staten Island, Typhoon Haiyan-Yolanda in the Philippines, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Marcon completed High School in 1977 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1981 at Silliman University. She then pursued her medical studies at Perpetual Help College of Medicine, graduating in 1987. Currently, Marcon is the President-elect of the Silliman University Alumni Association of New York-New Jersey.
