Amistoso, Uypitching Bag 6 Gold Medals in Palarong Pambansa
Two students from Silliman University bagged a total of six gold medals in archery and swimming, in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa held April 15 to 21 in Vigan.
Eleventh grader Phoebe Nicole C. Amistoso clinched five gold medals in archery. She set a double record-breaking performance for Central Visayas after scoring 326 points, exceeding the previous record of 318 points set by the Cordillera Administration Region in the 40m event, and registering 339 points in the 30m event, surpassing the 334 mark set by Western Visayas.
In swimming, sixth grader Monique S. Ramas-Uypitching also bagged gold in the 50m breaststroke category-elementary division.
Both athletes carried the banner for Central Visayas. From last year’s ninth place, the region jumped to fourth, with 26 gold, 25 silver and 36 bronze medals.
The Palarong Pambansa is an annual multi-sport event involving student-athletes from 17 regions of the Philippines.
