Announcement: Application Submission and Official Registration for the Medical School

All applicants should be a holder of any Baccalaureate Degree with a GWAG or QPA of 85% or above. The application form and the list of admission requirements are downloadable from the Silliman University website (www.su.edu.ph).

Admission of Applicants with NMAT %Rank of Above or Equal to Sixty (60)

SUMS normally accepts Applicants who have taken the NMAT within the last two years (to maintain validity) with a %Rank of sixty (60) and above. Once you have completely submitted all the necessary requirements to the Secretariat, you will be notified for a scheduled interview (face-to-face or online) for evaluation and deliberation by the Admissions Committee for final acceptance into the medical school.

In lieu to the cancellation of the NMAT supposedly scheduled on April 26, 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, SUMS is now accepting Applicants who have taken the NMAT within the last two years (to maintain validity) with a %Rank below sixty (60). Once you have completely submitted all the requirements to the Secretariat, you will be notified for a scheduled interview (face-to-face or online) for evaluation and deliberation by the Admissions Committee for final acceptance into the medical school. (This is only a special consideration just for this trying time of the Covid-19 Pandemic).

NO Admission of Applicants WITHOUT NMAT Result

In accordance with the recent APMC Advisory, Philippine medical schools are advised NOT TO ACCEPT applicants without NMAT result or have not taken any NMAT during the recent two years. The legal basis for this is based on the CHED CMO, Sec. 5a of RA #2382 as amended, otherwise known as the Medical Act of 1959, which serve as the basis of CHED Memorandum Order #18 series of 2016, which states: “for admission to medical schools the applicant must have taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) and obtain a score of xx.”

Online Enrollment period for Incoming First Year Medical Students – July 20 to 31, 2020
Online Registration for Second Year & Third Year Medical Students – August 3-14, 2020
Online Registration for Incoming Medical Clerks – July 20 to 31, 2020
Start of Clerkship – August 1, 2020
Start of Classes – August 17, 2020

Classes across all levels are synchronized to open in the month of August to give parents, students, faculty members, and school personnel additional time to prepare for the new school year, and for the University to strengthen class management and delivery, as well as, enhance the capacity of its technologies and infrastructure related to alternative online learning.

Until physical on-campus classes are allowed by CHED, LEB, DepEd, and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), delivery of education shall be through alternative learning methods in accordance with the guidelines issued by the aforementioned government agencies to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Academic scholarships, grants in aid and tuition discounts are available for qualified students. Flexible tuition payment schemes to assist parents in planning based on their preference and individual financial capability are likewise available.
