Entrep, Creative Writing students to represent SU in Japan service-learning program
Silliman University (SU) is sending Beatriz Ellen Gatanela, a second-year Entrepreneurship student, and Isabel Torres, a third-year Creative Writing student, to the Japan Summer Service-Learning (JSSL) Program to be hosted by the International Christian University, Japan this July 2022.

Isabel Torres
Gatanela and Torres will join participants from Middlebury College (USA), Union Christian College (Kochi, India), and Lady Doak College (Madurai, India) in an immersive four-week Service-Learning project with local community partners in Japan.
The selection committee members are Asst. Prof. Emervencia L. Ligutom, former director of the Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning; Dr. Giovanni T. Macahig, University registrar and CWTS coordinator; and Mr. Abe P. Cadeliña, Student Organizations, and Activities Division head.
Last year’s JSSL Program was conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. SU was represented by Brian Stefan Mack and Rosemay Thea Pañares, who were both Foreign Affairs students.
