This digital newsletter is a digest of calls for participation, research collaborations, fellowships, scholarships, events and other opportunities for the Silliman community.  It is curated by the Office of Strategic Partnerships. The Office also acts as the Secretariat of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia and as the Liaison to the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.

PHILFRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM
The application session for the PhilFrance Scholarships is open. Launched in 2016, this scholarship program is directed to Filipino students and professionals wishing to come to France to pursue Master’s degrees in all academic disciplines taught at French higher education institutions. It is awarded to highly-qualified candidates who have demonstrated strong academic and leadership qualities in their scholarly and professional activities.
Awardees of the PhilFrance Scholarships will be entitled to the following benefits for the expected length of their academic programs:
a partial tuition fee subsidy,
one roundtrip ticket from Manila to France,
an exemption from visa application fees,
a monthly allowance,
a health care package, and
priority access to public student accommodations
PHILFRANCE-DOST SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM
Through a partnership by the French Embassy and the Department of Science and Technology’s Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI); the jointly-administered PhilFrance-DOST Scholarships Program aims to encourage Filipino professionals working in academic, research, or government institutions to pursue a Master’s or Doctorate degree at French public higher education institutions.
Intending to strengthen exchanges of scientific knowledge and expertise between France and the Philippines, the PhilFrance-DOST Scholarships prioritizes the following fields of study:
  • Agriculture,
  • Biological Sciences,
  • Climate Change,
  • Forestry,
  • Health and Medical Research,
  • Material Sciences,
  • Natural Resources and Environment
  • Nuclear Application on Health,
  • Veterinary Sciences
Awardees of this scholarship must return to the Philippines immediately after completion of their graduate degree, to render return service or a period equivalent to twice the length of time that they spent in France for their degree.
Awardees of the PhilFrance-DOST Scholarships will be entitled to the following benefits for the expected length of their academic programs:
  • an exemption from public university registration fees,
  • one roundtrip ticket from Manila to France,
  • an exemption from visa application fees,
  • a monthly allowance,
  • a health care package, and
  • priority access to public student accommodations
In collaboration with LIA (Leipzig International Art Programme) the Goethe-Institute offers artists from Southeast Asia a three-month residency at the Art and Culture Centre Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei. At the beginning of the 20th century the Baumwollspinnerei (cotton mill) was the site of Europe’s largest processing centre for cotton, today it houses the cultural centre for one of the most exciting places for the production and exhibition of contemporary art and culture in Europe.
