First Renewable Energy Day features SU practices, student project
Silliman University (SU) was featured in the first Renewable Energy Day celebration in Negros Oriental March 5 at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center. SU Vice President for Development Jane Annette L. Belarmino presented SU’s best practices in utilizing solar energy and engaging a retail electricity supplier that generate renewable energy. Moreover, electrical and mechanical engineering students from the SU College of Engineering and Design presented their project, the Mobile Pico Hydropower Generator, which can be used by communities living near rivers for generating electricity for general domestic use.
Earlier this year, the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental declared the fifth of March as Renewable Energy Day to commemorate its commitment to renewable energy sources.
