Former SU President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III and wife, Gladys Rio-Malayang, join Chesapeake Bay Silliman Alumni chapter

Alumni Update April 13 – 19, 2026

The Chesapeake Bay Silliman Alumni (CBSA) welcomed former Silliman University (SU) President Dr. Ben Malayang III and his wife, Gladys R. Malayang, into its membership at a lunch on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Dr. Malayang and his wife recently immigrated to the USA and are settled in Virginia, near their daughter. Dr. Malayang is the 12th president of Silliman University, serving from 2006 to 2016.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ben and Gladys into our fold,” said CBSA president Danny Luzada.

“We look forward to having fun times with them as we gather to nurture the Silliman Spirit in this part of the world.”

CBSA has 30 members living in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

The welcome lunch was hosted by Maritess Valencia and her husband, JR Aquino, at their home in Alexandria, VA.
