Job Purpose:

The Quality Instruction and Excellence Head will play a pivotal role in leading and ensuring the highest standards of education, ethical values, and overall excellence within Silliman University, a Christian institution of learning. The responsibilities will encompass quality assurance, instructional leadership, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, all aligned with the university’s vision of total human development for the well-being of society and the environment.

It’s essential for the Quality Instruction and Excellence Head to possess a comprehensive understanding of the Philippine higher education landscape, CHED policies, and the broader regulatory environment. These qualifications ensure that the individual is well-equipped to lead initiatives that enhance the quality of instruction and contribute to the overall excellence of the institution while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Assurance
    • Develop and implement a robust quality assurance framework for academic programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and values.
    • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of teaching methods, curriculum, and student outcomes to maintain and enhance educational excellence.
  1. Instructional Leadership
    • Provide strategic leadership in the design and delivery of educational programs that align with the university’s Christian values and promote holistic human development.
    • Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to integrate ethical and values-based education into the curriculum.
  1. Excellence in Education
    • Champion a culture of academic excellence, promoting research, innovation, and best practices in teaching and learning.
    • Implement initiatives to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making.

    • Facilitate partnerships with community organizations, encouraging service-learning initiatives and projects that contribute to societal well-being and environmental sustainability.
    • Integrate community engagement into the curriculum to instill a sense of social responsibility among students.
  1. Ethical Leadership Development
    • Foster a culture of ethical leadership, integrity, and Christian values among faculty, staff, and students.
    • Provide training and resources to promote ethical decision-making and responsible citizenship.
  1. Continuous Improvement
    • Lead efforts to continuously improve the quality of education and overall institutional performance.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify areas for enhancement and implement evidence-based strategies for improvement.

 

Competencies, Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Education
    • Advanced degree (preferably a Ph.D. or equivalent) in education, quality assurance, higher education administration, or a related field.
  1. Experience
    • Substantial experience (typically 8-10 years or more) in a leadership role within higher education, with a focus on quality assurance and academic excellence.
    • Previous experience working in an institution that complies with CHED regulations and accreditation processes.
  1. Knowledge of CHED Regulations
    • In-depth knowledge and understanding of CHED regulations, especially those related to outcomes-based quality assurance, de-regulation and autonomous policies, accreditation processes, and the establishment of Centers of Excellence.
  1. Quality Assurance Expertise
    • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating outcomes-based quality assurance systems within higher education institutions.
    • Experience in developing and assessing academic programs based on established quality standards.
  1. Accreditation Experience
    • Proven track record of successfully guiding and facilitating accreditation processes, including familiarity with the accreditation standards set by accrediting bodies recognized by CHED.
  1. Policy Compliance
    • Strong understanding of and adherence to CHED policies and guidelines related to academic programs, faculty qualifications, student services, and other relevant areas.
  1. Autonomous Policies
    • Familiarity with and experience in navigating autonomous policies, including knowledge of the requirements and responsibilities associated with autonomous status.
