Ninth Grader is SEA Games Qualifier in Archery
Nicole Marie D. Tagle of the Silliman University Junior High School (SUJHS) is the number one Olympic qualifier in Archery, according to World Archery Philippines (WAP) secretary-general Dondon Sombrio.
WAP oversaw the Philippine Archery Cup Leg 1 at the Freedom Park Grounds in Dumaguete City, as it is assembling a 16-man team for the 2017 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in August.
Sombrio said that Tagle is a medal prospect for the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“No. 1 siya sa juniors, parang No. 1 din sa senior at 1 din sa Olympic-qualifier natin. Taga Dumaguete. Bata pa iyon,” he said.
(“She’s no. 1 in the junior’s [category] and in the senior’s too, I think; She is no. 1 in the Olympic [Qualifying Rounds].”
The 2017 SEA Games will feature 405 events in 38 sports. This will be the sixth time for Malaysia to host the games.
Tagle recently bagged gold in the Philippine Archery Cup Finals at Cebu City on February and clinched the bronze medal for the Philippine team in the Southeast Asian Archery Championships at Yangon, Myanmar last January.
