Nursing student wins best presenter at int’l conference
Ma. Jirija Eunice Bartolay, a Level IV Nursing student at Silliman University, won the Best Podium Presenter award after presenting her group’s research at the 5th International Conference on Qualitative Research in Nursing, Health, and Social Sciences on December 4-5, 2023 in Baguio City.
Bartolay co-authored the research paper, titled “Experiences of Burnout among Student Nurses during COVID-19 Pandemic” with her fellow Level IV Nursing students Claire Tenaja and Leo Lorenz Cruz, who also participated in the conference; and Francess Jade Añosa, Claire Balbuena, Mia Belle Damayo, Clester Enildas, Sophia Kae Gurdiel, Soleil Mari Maghuyop, Shaira Shannine Miramon, Anne Nicolette Ortega, and Ma. Kiedis Trasmonte.
Dr. Freslyn Lim-Saco, SU College of Nursing (SUCN) faculty member, served as the students’ research adviser.
Alyana Marianne Aviso, another Level IV Nursing student at SU, joined the conference as a poster presenter with the research study, “Influences of Resignation among Nurses in Private and Public Hospitals.” Her research adviser was Asst. Prof. Marnesa Pardillo Campoy.
Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Nathalie Cata-al, also an SUCN faculty member, represented SUCN as a conference participant.
With the theme, “Unfolding Stories: Nurturing Humanness through Qualitative Research,” the conference featured experts and scholars from esteemed universities and institutions in the country and beyond as speakers. It offered the attendees a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and workshops, and it further facilitated the advancement of qualitative research knowledge.
