Strategic Partnerships director attends UN meeting as delegate
Dr. Elmaco at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA as an official delegate to the UN Commission on the Status of Women meetings, March 11-22.
Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco, Silliman University Office of Strategic Partnerships director, participated as an official delegate to the United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) meetings, March 11-22 at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA.
Elmaco said during the CSW meetings, representatives of UN member states, civil society organizations, and UN entities gathered to discuss the progress and gaps in the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the key global policy document on gender equality, and other emerging issues on gender equality and empowerment of women.
CSW, a functional commission of the UN Economic and Social Council, is the main global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and empowerment of women.
Dr. Elmaco delivers a presentation at the Leaders’ Summit of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, March 8-9 at Crowne Plaza, New York.
Last March 8-9, Elmaco also spoke at the Leaders’ Summit of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International) at Crowne Plaza, New York.
BPW International is a worldwide organization that serves as a forum for networking among professional business women and for empowering women to develop their professional, leadership, and business potential through advocacy, mentoring, and skills development.
Elmaco was chosen by UN CSW as a recognized International Gender and Development Expert with involvements in gender equality programs and projects, such as when she was Project Manager of Women without Borders in Vienna and as Social and Gender Specialist of the Asian Development Bank, among others. She is also a Member of BPW International, as well as Asia Pacific Coordinator of BusinessNet.
