SU alumnus showcases solo art exhibition
Visual artist and fashion designer Dan Ryan Duran debuts his solo art exhibition, “Whatever Purifies You is the Right Path,” on August 31, 2024, 7:00 PM, at the Mugna Gallery in Valencia, Negros Oriental.
The opening reception will also include a fashion show at the gallery, showcasing Duran’s latest couture designs.
Duran’s exhibition is inspired by the 13th-century Muslim poet Rumi, who wrote, “Whatever purifies you is the right path, I will not try to define it.” Through his collection of works, Duran showcases his skills and interests, subtly reflecting his perspective on the world and his vision for the future without explicitly defining them.
Duran is a true red, having graduated from Silliman University (SU) Early Childhood in 1993, SU Elementary School in 1999, SU High School in 2003, and from the SU School of Communication (now College of Mass Communication) in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication.
In 2011, he received a diploma in fashion design on a full scholarship from the School of Fashion and the Arts. He has been recognized with the Preview Magazine’s Emerging Fashion Talent Award and was the first runner-up in the Balintawak category of Bench’s Ternocon in 2018. Currently based in Siaton, Duran creates custom pieces for his clients.
