SU celebrates Int’l Zero Waste Month with a lecture
To celebrate the International Zero Waste Month, The Silliman University (SU) Research and Innovation Office will conduct a lecture on zero waste initiatives on January 24, 2024, 10:00 a.m., on the second floor of Dr. Mariano and Lina Hall, Silliman University.
Joseph Edward Alegado, SU Visiting Researcher and Australian University PhD candidate in Resources, Environment, and Development, will give a talk entitled, “Rethinking Alternatives to Development in the Philippines: Exploring Dumaguete City and Siquijor Province’s Zero Waste Initiatives as a Case for Degrowth.”
Co-organized by the Silliman University Student Government’s Environment Committee, Institute of Environmental and Marine Sciences, the School of Public Affairs and Governance, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Dr. Mariano C. Lao ICI Technology Laboratory, the College of Business Administrations, War on Waste Negros Oriental, and Zero Waste Youth Negros Oriental, the event is also available online for those who will not be able to attend the face-to-face session.
It has been endorsed by GAIA, an international environment organization, as an official event in Asia-Pacific in the celebration of the International Zero Waste Month.
