SU CWTS holds Emergency-Rescue Training-Workshop with Bayawan City CPSO-CDRRMO, BFP

The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) component of Silliman University conducted a training-workshop on calamity-disaster emergency and rescue last Aug. 17. A team from the City Public Safety-City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Bayawan City facilitated the said activity, complete with their top-of-the-line facilities, firetruck and other equipment. The training-workshop is part of the mandatory module of CWTS to train cadets with disaster risk reduction and management.

The training-workshop was divided into seven stations where cadets participated in activities and demonstrations on first-aid (basic life support), lifting and moving (types of carries), knot tying techniques, rappelling, personal protective equipment, and self-contained breathing apparatus and basic fire-fighting from the BFP.

Bayawan City Public Safety Office Head Cindy H. Salimbagat, an SU alumna (AB, MS, LLB), and Fire Marshal Rey Quillope led the team from Bayawan City.
