SU honors faculty, staff retirees of 2022, 2023
Silliman University (SU) honored the service and dedication of 22 faculty and staff retirees of S.Y. 2022-2023 through a ceremony last November 22, 2023 at Silliman Hall.

On behalf of the University, Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, SU president, delivered a speech expressing gratitude and appreciation to the retirees.
“As you embark on this new chapter of your life, we at Silliman University, want to express our deepest gratitude for your invaluable contributions. Your dedication, passion, and commitment have not only enriched the lives of so many students, as well as other members of our academic community. You also left an indelible mark on our institution’s legacy of providing whole person education for the well-being of the society and environment,” said McCann.
Dr. Mae Brigitt Bernadel L. Villordon, University Personnel Committee chairperson and College of Arts and Sciences dean, said in her welcoming remarks: “Let us be reminded to recognize that God created us to fulfill a purpose and a mission for us to live, and that our God is a God of mission. You have lived that mission and you have served that purpose. Know that your service in SU matters.”
Dr. Chona F. Javier, one of the retirees and a former dean and faculty member of the College of Agriculture, thanked the University for recognizing the retired faculty and staff members’ “labor of love.”
Javier also expressed her gratitude as a member of the SU community as she shared her journey in the College of Agriculture, where she served for 44 years.
