Japanese students of Silliman University (SU) met the Consul General of Japan in Cebu, Hideki Yamaji, during his visit to Dumaguete City, October 5, 2022.

Misaki Yoshimoto, third-year BS Biology; Shunnosuke Sugie, first-year BS Information Technology; Anna Yamamoto, second-year BSBA Major in Marketing Management; and Ryuji Fukui, third-year BS Civil Engineering student were invited by the Office of the Dumaguete City Mayor, Felipe Antonio B. Remollo to attend the courtesy visit at the City Council Session Hall.

“The reason why I came here is that I want to get to know as many people as possible here in Dumaguete. And it is my pleasant surprise that there are so many Japanese students studying here…I have heard that Silliman University is one of the best universities in the Philippines, so I’m proud that so many students are studying in [a] very prestigious, very excellent university,” said Consul General Yamaji.

Dr. Edna Gladys T. Calingacion, SU dean of students, and Eljah Mila R. Viajedor, international students coordinator, accompanied the students.
