SU offers free online training for parents, guardians
Silliman University (SU) offers free online training for parents and guardians where they will be trained by students of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) on how to use Google Drive, basic video editing, and MS Word basics.
Asst. Prof. Joy M. Dy, CCS dean, said the training program is part of the community-extension project of the CCS Confederates Student Council in partnership with the Dr. Mariano Lao Innovation, Creation, and Invention (ICI) Laboratory to help parents and guardians to become “well-versed in the current online setting.”
The first batch of participants will be trained on February 27, 2021 via ZOOM. The online training will also be live-streamed on the Facebook page of the Dr. Mariano Lao ICI Laboratory.
Dy said 61 participants registered as of February 23.
The next schedule for the free online training will be on March 27, 2021 and April 17, 2021.

The Dr. Mariano Lao ICI Laboratory is known to hold free programs and webinars on computer education and online tools. In 2019, it launched the SU and Mariano Lao Free Computer Education Program for senior citizens, employees, and students, including those outside the SU community. The program continued in 2020 despite the pandemic.
