SU project provides internet allowance to scholars

With a mission to “get scholars closer to their dreams,” the Dreamkeeper Project of Silliman University (SU) provides mobile data and internet allowance to scholars as a way to address the lack of internet connectivity as a barrier in Online Distance Learning (ODL).

Overseen by the Scholarships and Aid Division of the Office of Student Services, the project supports scholars by providing them with internet connectivity as the University implements ODL for SY 2020-2021.

The project recognizes that ODL poses additional financial challenges to students, specifically those who would not be able to study in SU without a scholarship and those whose households have been affected by the loss of livelihood due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the project, the scholars will receive financial support for their internet connectivity every month in the form of mobile internet load or internet allowance.

Dr. Edna Gladys T. Calingacion, dean of students, credits the donors whose support made it possible for the project to provide internet connectivity to 32 scholars as of November 2020.
