SU receives award from CHED for internationalization efforts

Silliman University (SU) was awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) International Affairs Service office as one of the 2023 Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) last October 6, 2023.

Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, SU president, received a certificate of commendation and trophy from CHED during the ICONS Awards 2023 ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

SU was recognized for its “enduring commitment towards internationalization of Philippine higher education,” “exemplar performance” in the globally recognized Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia Rankings 2023, and “notable contributions to the field of higher education.”

SU continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts as it widens its network of international partners for academic, research, and community engagement programs; offers online learning programs, courses, and events through its Global Studies Center; supports faculty members in sharing their expertise at the international stage through conferences; and sustains services for its more than 300 international students from 46 countries.

The certificate of commendation and trophy awarded to SU by CHED as one of the 2023 ICONS.
