SU Research Director to share findings on faculty development

Dr. Enrique Oracion, Silliman University Research and Development Center director, will present the results of a survey on faculty development practices and challenges in the Faculty Development Forum of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, November 2, 2022 via Zoom.

Oracion helped the United Board with the survey, which opened in October 2021 to receive insights from higher education institutions in Asia.

Among the significant findings from the survey are the following faculty development activities: capacitation to equip faculty members to function according to their mandates, professional advancement to enrich further their ability to deliver their expected roles, and provision of incentives to sustain faculty quality.

The Faculty Development Forum, with the theme “Challenges and Practices of Integrated Scholarship in Asian Higher Education,” is a follow-up activity to present the survey results and discuss the concept of “integrated scholarship.”

The United Board defines integrated scholarship as the way in which research, teaching, and service can be made more integrated and coherent in the work of educators and in the mission of the institutions.

Dr. Gray Kochhar-Lindgren, professor and director of The Common Core at Hong Kong University, will present tested practices of promoting integrated scholarship in higher education.

The United Board invited all 46 HEIs that responded to the 2021 survey, to attend the forum.
