SU student wins essay writing contest of Scranton Women’s Leadership Center

Noraine Patch G. Puengan, a student at Silliman University (SU) taking up a Master of Arts in English, Major in Literary Studies degree, won the Cultural Diversity & Inclusiveness Essay Writing Competition of Scranton Women’s Leadership Center hosted by the American Methodist Korean Women’s Mission Foundation.

Puengan’s essay, titled “The Female Gaze: The Power of Centering the ‘Other’ through Championing Diversity and Inclusivity,” was published on the Scranton Women’s Leadership Center’s website last April 13, 2023.

In 2022, she also won the “Save Earth Save Us: For All Life on Earth” Essay Writing Competition of the American Methodist Korean Women’s Mission Foundation.

Puengan completed her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing degree from SU in 2022 and was a special fellow for Drama in the 2022 SU National Writers Workshop.
