TEDxSillimanU is First in Negros; Features 6 Alumni
The University’s Culture and Arts Council will host the first independently organized Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) talks on Negros Island.
Dubbed TEDxSillimanU, the event slated February 3 at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium explores the theme “Convergence, Divergence.” It highlights how Dumaguete and Silliman have jointly become a place where ideas are not only created and shared, but also challenged and reinvented.
Six Sillimanians will speak: Palanca-awardee Asst. Prof. Ian Casocot; career diplomat Ms. Stacy Danika Alcantara; LGBTQI advocate Atty. Regal Oliva; eco-artivist Mr. Razcel Jan Salvarita; TV executive Mr. Oliver Victor Amoroso; and sports psychologist Dr. Michele Joan D. Valbuena.
TED is a nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation that aims to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation. With more than 100,000 TEDx talks in 190 countries in over 2,500 cities since 2009, the TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection.
Tickets are still available at P200 each at the Culture and Arts Council Office, 2nd floor, College of Performing and Visual Arts Hall 2.
