SU Sets Up Computers for Quick Search; Sends Team to Tacloban
Emergency Information Center
With the help of our College of Computer Studies, computer units are being made available in the lobby of the Uytengsu Computer Center for our students and colleagues in the University to use exclusively to search information about their families and friends in areas affected by typhoon Yolanda. These computer units feature an interface that connects to the different search websites created to contain names of individuals who may have lost contact due to absence of electricity and poor communication signals.
Deployment of Team to Tacloban
In addition to this, Silliman University is soliciting information from its students, faculty and staff on names of their relatives in, initially, Tacloban whom they are unable to contact up to this time. Those concerned are requested to e-mail the names of their loved ones to [email protected], and proceed to the Office of Student Affairs where they will be requested to identify their residences' location in the affected area.
Silliman will send a team to Tacloban in the next days which main purpose is to help locate family members of students and faculty and staff. The University acknowledges the great need for community cooperation in alleviating the anxiety of many who have not spoken yet with their loved ones after typhoon Yolanda.
The University has also issued a call for donations earlier this afternoon: https://su.edu.ph/article/1033-Call-for-Donations-f
