Silliman University (SU) alumnus Ritchie Teves is one upcoming fashion designer in Metro Manila to watch. After winning second runner-up at the Casa De Moda Fashion Illustration Battle last year and chosen as “Social Media’s Favorite,” Ritchie has surged forward in his relatively young career as a fashion designer.
Ritchie describes himself as a visual artist, fashion designer, photographer, and graphic artist. All these creative talent complement each other to highlight his being a fashion designer.
“Ritchie Teves” is a sole proprietorship business and caters to custom-made casuals and gowns for women and tailored men’s formal wear. Ritchie takes measurements online and update clients on the same platform. Through this online feature, Ritchie now gets clients from abroad.
Ritchie explains the process of his work passion: “When something is custom-made, it is made to customer’s specifications. We take extra care in each process; from fashion illustration, to pattern-making, to sewing and finally to the finished product. As needed, we go to the extent of assisting the client with styling, making sure that our topnotch service matches the quality of our products.”
Currently enrolled in fashion design at the Style Studio Fashion Design School Philippines to hone his craft, Ritchie hopes to graduate soon.
Ritchie graduated from SU with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1998. In college, he sang with the Campus Choristers under Dr. Elizabeth Susan Vista-Suarez and was also a cartoonist for the Weekly Sillimanian. He won various painting competitions, including first prize in the Negros Oriental Mural Painting Art Competition. Upon his graduation from SU, he was awarded the University Talent Award for Excellence in Visual Arts.
Ritchie use to worked as an Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President and Manager for Projects at an insurance company based in Makati. Now he has ventured full-time as a fashion designer and is happily married with two adorable kids.
