This digital newsletter is a digest of calls for participation, research collaborations, fellowships, scholarships, events and other opportunities for the Silliman community. It is curated by the Office of Strategic Partnerships. The Office also acts as the Secretariat of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia and as the Liaison to the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.
Fulbright Philippines is now accepting applications for the #Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA) for the academic year of 2020-2021. Application deadline is on Friday, August 30, 2019.
The FLTA Program is a full scholarship program for early career (not more than seven years of teaching experience) English-language teachers to work as teaching assistants at a U.S. university for one academic year (nine months).
During the program year, the participant will have the opportunity to take classes on teaching methodology and other topics, such as American studies. The participant is also expected to participate in university programs and to share the Filipino culture with their colleagues and students.

Advancing Accountable Resource Governance in Asia Pacific is an annual course jointly convened by the Natural Resource Governance Institute and Gadjah Mada University’s Department of Politics and Government (PolGov).

During the course, participants will be exposed to the challenges surrounding the oil, gas and mining industries, and engage in interactive learning and comprehensive discussions with one another on the strategies that could be implemented in their respective countries. The course will also cover discussions around subnational resource governance and understanding the challenges of promoting transparency and accountability in resource-rich areas.
Ten full scholarships are offered on a highly competitive basis to participants from the priority countries mentioned above. These scholarships cover the course fee, visa cost and return airfare.
In order to support and facilitate mobility among young talented researchers of ASEAN MS, India and ASEAN instituted the scheme ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AIRTF) Scheme for ASEAN young researchers to work at any of the Indian research/ academic Institution.
The AIRTF scheme is a fellowship scheme with the following objectives:
- To promote mobility of scientists and researchers from the ASEAN-Member Countries to India and provide them opportunity to work at Indian R&D/ academic institutions to upgrade their research skills and expertise.
- To facilitate exchange of information and contacts between the scientists and researchers of India and ASEAN Countries and create a network for building research collaborations.
As a spin-off, the Fellowship awardees may also have opportunity to get co-supervisors from India for their research projects for Ph.D. or Masters degree on their return to their home countries.
The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of two to six months.
Full financial support will be given including airfare, fellowship grant and research grant.

The aim of the course is to cultivate a global cadre of leaders who are committed to legal empowerment, and who share a common understanding of the fi eld, including history, methodology, and evidence. A faculty of respected practitioners and academics lead course
participants in an in-depth exploration of key themes, including the conceptual framework of legal empowerment, community organizing and social movements, and the role of grassroots legal advocates in realizing systemic change. The participatory nature of the course also emphasizes peer-to-peer learning through small group work.
