Silliman U, Canadian Embassy organize forum on Radicalization in Southeast Asia 

With support from the Embassy of Canada, Silliman University through the Office of Strategic Partnerships and the Salonga Center for Law and Development  in partnership with the ASEAN Society Philippines, the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy and the University of the Philippines organized a forum on “Radicalization in Southeast Asia” last Tuesday, 28 January 2020 at the Case Room of Henry Sy, Sr. Hall of the University of the Philippines-BGC, Taguig City.

The event was attended by more than 100 people, including diplomats, senior military officials and the national media.  The main speaker was Dr. Kenneth Christie, Program Head and Professor of Human Security and Peacebuilding of Royal Roads University in Victoria, B.C. Giving the Asian context was Atty. Mikhail Maxino, Director, Salonga Center for Law and Development of Silliman University. Ambassador Delia D. Albert, Asia’s first Chairperson of the ASEAN Society Philippines and the first woman career diplomat  to serve as Secretary of Foreign Affairs in Asia gave the opening remarks while Mr. Warren Mucci, Political and Public Affairs Counsellor, Embassy of Canada gave the summative statement. Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco was the moderator and host.
