SU Ticao Island celebrates with 196 graduates
Silliman University (SU), through the SU Technical Educational Vocational Entrepreneurial Center (SU – TEVEC) and in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Masbate, held the 7th Graduation Exercises for Ticao Project TVET Programs at the Monreal Ticao Gymnasium, Monreal, Masbate on January 17, 2024.
One hundred ninety-six (196) graduates from the four (4) TESDA-registered courses since the pandemic in 2019 until 2023 were honored during the graduation exercises, with the theme, “MaGaling sa Makabagong TVET para sa Bagong Pilipinas: TVET as Pathway to Recovery and Social-Economic Transformation.” These graduates came from the four short courses, including Carpentry NC II, Agricultural Crops Production NC III, Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NC II, and Animal Production (Swine) NC II.
SU Ticao Island is a recognized institution accredited by the TESDA and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). It specializes in providing Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programs (TVET), contributing to the development of skilled professionals in line with TESDA and CHED standards.
The recently held event serves as SU’s compliance with the partner institution, TESDA in Masbate, on training, assessment, and graduation. Training Certificates were handed out to all the Ticao Project TVET Program graduates from the University, signed by Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, SU President, and TESDA.
Hon. Glenda L. Villahermoso, Municipal Mayor of Monreal, Masbate, who served as the graduation speaker, expressed sincere gratitude and happiness that Silliman, in partnership with TESDA, continues to conduct free training for their constituents.
Blanchie M. Utzurrum, SU TEVEC Head, and office secretary Vicpierre Morris Calunsag represented Silliman University.
