SUCN produces 134 newly inducted nurses, 1 topnotcher from Dumaguete City
One hundred thirty-four (134) Silliman University College of Nursing (SUCN) graduates attended the Oathtaking Rites of New Nurses and Induction Ceremony at the Negros Oriental Convention Center on January 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
SUCN nursing graduate Shirnyl Hannah E. Magos was also recognized by the city government for being a topnotcher, securing eighth (8th) place in the NLE.
A total of 356 nurses who passed the recent Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) held in November 2023 was present during the event.
The Philippine Nurses Association Negros Oriental Chapter hosted the oathtaking, while key members of the National Board of Nursing also attended the event, including Hon. Dr. Leah Primitva S. Paquiz. The Philippine Regulation Commissions (PRC), through Narcival Randie Z. Taquiqui, Director Regional Office VII – Cebu City, inspired the newly inducted nurses of the province and nearby areas through a message.
Along with SUCN, the oathtaking was also attended by representative nursing schools in Negros Oriental, including the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) with 57 nurses, Foundation University (FU), 35; and St. Paul University of Dumaguete City (SPUD), 101. Eighteen (18) other schools and colleges outside the province also participated in the event, including nursing schools from Bohol, Bacolod, and Dipolog.
The Oathtaking and Induction ceremony was shortly followed by a motorcade ride to Pantawan 2 at Rizal Boulevard, where a short program was held for an awarding ceremony of all Dumaguete City nursing schools by the city government.
